The poet and writer HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN and the
visual artist JACK LUNDSDAL together at this moment!
Why should a poet and writer that lived 200 years ago,
be an inspirational force for an artist of today?
The answer is simply this. He strikes a chord in every
human heart.. The story of H.C.Andersen then and now as one of the worlds most
beloved writer of fanciful tales that has been translated into all the languages
of Europe and even into Chinese and Japanese as well and of continueing interest
even today, so nowadays and everywhere readers ask for his tales of the magic
dream world.
Oh-God, I am alone!” wrote Hans Christian Andersen in a
poem. Could this be true? Yes, it
is possible, whereas Hans Christian Andersen had a
double quality personality that was a true copy of his amazing paper cuttings,
and much more than that, he was a critical journalist with a fascination for
science, and even a contemporary thinker, who was at the same time being the
sensitive poetic soul as such. He could not escape this feeling of loneliness
and daily mental suffering. This never left in his search for a peaceful state
of mind.
The work of Hans Christian Andersen and the contemporary
artist Jack Lundsdal born in Copenhagen 1936, is based on life experience which
has stirred an echo transporting to the canvas today a shout appealing to the
world, that within each human exists a beautiful side and mysterious part, with
passionate feelings that can be instrumental to extend the pictures space to
include the viewer. The paintings thus mirror both the world outside and the
artist. A transformation that reports the thoughts of Hans Christian Andersen
and Jack Lundsdal through processes of memory that creates images in a
continuous experience of life in our world.
